I read the whole book in one sitting because I was so excited to get started. Plus, it was easy to read and was very informative. I have already put together a small quilt for practice, and working on my second one. It takes me a little longer mainly because not only am I a beginner quilter but also a beginner sewer!!

I just wanted to tell you what a joy Nine Easy Steps to Making Your First Quilt was. I have quilted before, but had always done things the old fashioned way (a paper template, scissors and handmade saw horse frames). I had never used a rotary cutter, until I purchased this book. The chapter on stitching HSTs is definitely a time saver. I have finished two quilt tops in less than a week, and couldn’t be happier. The first one I made for my granddaughter from a pattern I found on the web called "Scrappy Hearts" from the Delaware Quilts website. The second is "Sweet Baby" from Claudia's Quilt Shoppe website. I modified the basic designs to suit my needs.
The funny thing is I bought this book for my daughter. To help her get into quilting. Looks like I am going to have to order another book for her now, because this one is mine. Thanks to Penny for teaching this "old" quilter some new tricks.
